CIMA DI
MOLA
CORATINA OLIVECLOSE

Also known as Cima di Corato or Racioppo, the Coratina olive varietal has ancient but unknown origins; probably it is native in the Corato area, after which it is named, and today it is commonly grown on several thousands of hectares.

This olive tree has moderate strength and growth and a fairly thick foliage. Its leaf has an elliptical-lanceolate shape, light green-coloured upper surface and green-silver-coloured lower surface. The elongated and slightly asymmetric fruit is green with evident white lenticels, and it never gets black, even when ripe.

CIMA DI BITONTO OLIVECLOSE

The Cima di Bitonto olive varietal is found in the central part of the Terra di Bari, mainly in Bitonto and its neighbouring areas, but it also extends to the north-eastern part of the Basilicata region.

Most of these olive trees are centuries-old and show a clear tendency to alternate bearing. The tree, whose branches are long and with a pendulous attitude, is vigorous and has a wide foliage. The fruit is sweet and ripens early, so the harvesting usually starts at the end of October.

OGLIAROLA BARESE OLIVECLOSE

The Ogliarola Barese varietal, whose productivity is intermediate-alternate, is a rustic and rapidly-growing varietal, often used as polleniser. Its fruits ripen late, as they oppose to removal, but they show a very good milling yield.

The tree has medium vigour, expanded growing habit and a moderately thick foliage

CIMA DI MOLA OLIVECLOSE

The Cima di Mola cultivar, very common in the south-eastern part of the Bari area, has a vigorous tree, with a thick foliage and erect growing habit. The leaf is medium-small, dark green-coloured on the upper surface and grey-silver-coloured on the lower surface. The fruit is elongated, ellipsoidal, small, light, black and not very glossy.
The tree has a good-alternate productivity.
